A sudden jump is traffic is awesome!! If your blog or web site traffic stays roughly about the same each day, but suddenly takes a big jump it can feel like a big bonus. BUT, in order to capitalize on that traffic and see the best way to capitalize on it and perhaps replicate it, we need to know where that traffic is coming from.
If you check your Google Analytics and you see the source is Facebook it can be a bit frustrating. Sure you know it is from Facebook, but that is basically like saying it’s “from the internet”. Facebook is a big landscape. What we really want to know is how to find where Facebook traffic is coming from.
While I have heard many different possible ways to track down this elusive source, I have found most of the methods NOT to work. The one method I have found to work about 90% of the time is beyond simple. All you have to do is go to Facebook and type the title of your blog post into the search box at the top of the screen on Facebook. What you should then see is every reference made to that same term in any Facebook posts that are public. Super easy, right??
Many times I have seen bloggers ask in Facebook groups how to find the source of traffic from Facebook when they have had a post get a sudden jump in traffic. Each time I have offered this trick about how to find where Facebook traffic is coming from it has worked!!
I’m curious to see how it works on an even broader scale – SO, if you try this trick please leave a comment letting me know if it did or didn’t work for you. Thanks!
